Heart Leather

A floral heart wrapped in leather.

The structure here is heavy but there is a beauty hidden behind the veil. Layers of florals, resins and animalics come together in the first leather composition from Noble Form. Modern perfumery regulations make authentic reconstruction of this style difficult; this composition makes few concessions.

Labdanum lies at the core of Heart Leather. A jet-black absolute of exceptional grade, sourced from Cyprus, the home of Cistus ladanifer. Mature benzoin from Laos, tolu balsam absolute and styrax complete the resin profile, anchored by a caramel-rich vanilla absolute.

Birch tar, castoreum absolute and civet absolute form the leather accord. Nitro musks and a trace of aldehydes give the composition a distinctly vintage cuir character. What is less typical, even among vintage formulations, is the abundance of floral absolutes. Rose, jasmine, orange flower, osmanthus, hay and beeswax lend Heart Leather an uncommon richness within the genre.

Shaped with few compromises, this perfume offers a glimpse into an older style of perfumery. Rich with shadow and smoke, its underlying character is composed and elegant.
